WHY SHOULD YOU TRAIN WITH ME?

My name is Stu Wright. I'm a full time working, father of two, I keep myself in the best shape of my life both physically and mentally through martial arts based training. And I help busy adults in their 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond do the same.

Over the last 5 years or so, I've helped literally hundreds of people improve their lives through boxing, kickboxing and personal training, through both group sessions and 1-2-1 private tuition.

But it hasn't always been this way. If I'm totally honest, life before kids was pretty hedonistic. I drank, smoked, ate crap and spent most of my time partying without a care in the world, but as I hit my mid 30s and my bad life choices began to catch up with me both physically and mentally, I realised it was time for change. Not just for me, but for my family too.

And so started a long journey into martial arts that changed the trajectory of my life forever (and for the better!)

I had always struggled trying to find a form of exercise I enjoyed, nothing would stick. Suddenly I had found not only a form of exercise I loved and wanted to return to again and again, but a form of exercise that solved all of my problems. I lost over 25kg. My cardiovascular fitness and heart health rocketed. My flexibility and mobility hit next level. I could do things with my body I couldn't do in my 20s! My mental wellbeing and stress levels dropped dramatically, I became calmer and more tolerant (and probably nicer to be around!) My confidence also sky rocketed. I would credit training martial arts with giving me the confidence to take the leap to starting my own business. Something I wouldn't have had the courage to do previously. People throw the term 'life changing' around a lot, but for me walking through that martial arts gym door for the first time, although I didn't know it at the time, would transform my life.

It's easy to slip into the mindset that we're too old to start martial arts training when we get over 30. We're really not.

Yeah, maybe you’re not going to win any world titles, neither am I.

But what happens as we age, we lose our mobility and flexibility. Martial arts can fix that.

We get sedentary and our cardiovascular fitness declines. Martial arts can fix that.

We begin to lose strength and muscle tone. Martial arts can fix that.

Busy work life, parenting and other adulting responsibilities leave us stressed and can negatively affect our wellbeing. Martial arts can fix that!

See a pattern emerging here?

You don’t need to be training for a fight to enjoy martial arts.

I believe boxing and kickboxing training should be accessible to everybody. I have clients in their 20s and I have clients in their 60s.

You don’t need to be in shape to start with martial arts. It will get you in shape.

If you’re looking something that will improve your physical and mental health, something that you’ll stick with, something that’s fun and engaging, throw on some gloves and give it a go. Future you will thank you!
